POSITION DESCRIPTIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

Vice President

Position Description: 
The CSOP Vice President is in training to become the next CSOP president. Duties will include negotiating with the Student Government Association, the Office of Student Engagement, and various other Chapman University departments; acting as the secretary/notetaker for CSOP board meetings; and assisting the President with various tasks related to both the club and the Organization’s season. 

 
Position Requirements: 
– Must have participated in at least one CSOP production. 
– Must be in good standing with Chapman University. 
– Underclassman standing preferred.
 
 
Finance Assistant
 
Position Description: 
The Finance Assistant is in training to become the next Director of Finance. Duties will include assisting the current Director of Finance with receiving and distributing CSOP’s funds upon the authorization of the President; working alongside the President, Vice President, and Director of Finance to build a strong budget for the Organization’s season; learning how to handle production reimbursements (collecting production receipts, filling out the necessary financial paperwork, and turning in said paperwork to the Financial Office); and helping to organize any fundraising events and ticketing for CSOP’s shows. 
 

Position Requirements:
– Must have participated in at least one CSOP production.
– Must be a current freshman or sophomore. 
– Must be in good standing with Chapman University.
– Must have some level of knowledge or previous experience with maintaining finances. 

 
 
Marketing Assistant 
 
Position Description: 
The Marketing Assistant is in training to become the next Director of Marketing. Duties will include assisting the Director of Marketing with creating CSOP’s email newsletters, keeping an up-to-date email list, and staying in communication with the Dean of Students for the university-wide weekly announcements; learning how to create marketing campaigns and designs for posters and social media; managing all social media accounts and digital/physical signage; maintaining the official CSOP website; designing the production’s program; upholding the club’s brand and image in all promotional material; and assisting with any community outreach or recruitment initiatives. 
 
Position Requirements:
– Must be a current freshman or sophomore.
– Must be in good standing with Chapman University. 
– Must have some level of knowledgable or previous experience with either graphic design, marketing, media management, etc. 
 
 
General Officer 
 
Position Description: 
The General Officers of CSOP fulfill a variety of administrative and production positions. This position is intentionally left broad to ensure that the Executive Board has members to represent different aspects of campus life, but they can have more specific titles and responsibilities assigned to them by the President. We are looking for candidates with passion for the performing arts, are creative problem-solvers, and who have something new to contribute to the team. 
 
Position Requirements: 
– Must be a current undergraduate student. 
– Must be in good standing with Chapman University.

We are looking for students to help backstage for our production. You do not need to be a theatre major to apply – CSOP is open to all majors and all experience levels.

Audition Instructions:
Please prepare one minute of a contemporary or rock musical theatre song that you feel highlights your vocal and acting abilities. You may select a piece from Spring Awakening if you so choose. An audition accompanist will be provided, so please bring your printed sheet music. 
 
This year, auditions will be held in-person on Friday, February 9th from 7pm to 11pm and Saturday, February 10th from 11am to 5pm. After you complete this form, we will reach out to you about scheduling an audition timeslot. If you cannot make any of the audition times, please email csopchapman@gmail.com and we will do our best to accommodate you!
 
Callbacks are an invitation-only opportunity for you to further demonstrate your vocal, acting, and dance abilities. They will take place Monday, February 12th from 7-11pm and Tuesday, February 13th from 7-10pm. The callback list will be released within 1-2 days of the auditions’ conclusion.
 
Please keep in mind the following dates:
Rehearsals begin: February 20th
From February 20th to March 14th, rehearsals will be held four days a week: Tues/Wed/Thurs from ~6-10pm and Sun from ~12-4pm.
Rehearsals will not be held over Spring Break from March 16th-24th.
Starting March 25th, rehearsals will be held five days a week: Mon/Tues/Wed/Thurs from ~6-10pm and Sun from ~12-4pm.
Tech Week: April 28th-May 2nd
Performances: May 3rd & 4th @7:30pm, May 5th @2pm
